All the phenomena we see around us, whether in the red of sunset or the residue of the beginning of the universe, reflect the functioning of certain laws of nature. Physics is a human attempt to discover these laws and to study their consequences. The Physics Department of Udalguri College was established in 1995 with Dr Umananda Goswami as the founder Head of the Department. Initially, Department offered the course for Higher Secondary and Degree (Pass Course) levels. The Honours course was introduced in the year 2015. The honours course in Physics provides an in-depth view of topics relating to physics. In order to cater to the queries and expectations of the students, the department has well-equipped laboratories dedicated for physics, electronics and computer-based experiments.
At present, the Physics department offers UG Programmes under the affiliation of Bodoland University and Higher Secondary (10+2) under Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC).

Our vision is to motivate and instruct students, giving them a thorough grasp of the universal principles and preparing them to take on challenging scientific and technical problems. Through our dedication to excellence, honesty, and inclusion, we strive to cultivate a stimulating academic atmosphere that encourages inquisitiveness, creativity, and an interest in uncovering the secrets of the cosmos.

Mission: To provide high-quality Physics education and training for undergraduates. This includes giving them a solid grounding in fundamental concepts, experimental methods, and theoretical ideas.
